PLUMARIA, is a collaboration between Daniel Germani, Maison Février and Illulian. Together they have created an exquisite rug that unites the mastery of craftsmanship with the allure of natural beauty. The result is a bespoke rug, where Himalayan wool hand knotted by master craftsmen and the delicate beauty of the feathers come together in a perfect harmony.

“The wool’s texture is soft and luxurious, offering a rich tactile experience. Its monochrome color palette is deliberately understated, allowing the colorful applications to take center stage”, says Germani. The feathers—crafted in Paris with the delicate artistry of Plumassier lead by Maxime Leroy at Atelier Février—are an integral part of the overall design. “Each feather is carefully hand-picked and meticulously applied, creating an ethereal and sculptural effect on the surface of the rug. Leaves and flowers with their soft, fluid shapes give movement into the design, evoking the feeling of wind through a forest or the quiet drift of spring blooms…it’s so dreamy” Germani adds.

Through this collaboration, Germani and Maison Février carry us to a realm where nature, artistry, and unparalleled craftsmanship unite, creating a truly extraordinary work of art that resonates with both senses andsp irit.

The end result is more than just a rug—it’s a unique piece that tells the story of both the human craftmanship and the natural world, brought together through the shared vision of two experts in their field, Maison Février and Illulian.

Maison Février has been executing sumptuous plumasserie (fine feather work) that requires hours of meticulous hand-work by skilled artisans for over 90 years. Founded in 1929, Maison Février is the last feather atelier in the world located in the heart of Paris.

In 2009, Maison Février was acquired by the group Moulin Rouge committed to preserving craftsmanship. Since then Maison Février has had the honor of being recognized as a “Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant — EPV ” by the French government. A distinction put in place to reward French firms for the excellence of their traditional and industrial know-how.

Over the years, Maison Février has had the honor of creating pieces for the most iconic figures of the entertainment and fashion industries. Gaining the trust of clients such as, Mistinguett” the Queen of Music-hall” turned movie star and the intrepid Josephine Baker, allowed Maison Février to stand out almost instantly in the early 1930’s. Benefiting then from an excellent reputation, Maison Février continued to grow and create sumptuous pieces. Between 1960 and 1980, the artisan’s of Maison Février were notably bringing life to the costumes designed by Yves Saint Laurent for Zizi Jeanmaire. Not to mention dressing Liliane Montevecchi for her performances at the Folies Bergères while answering to the many requests of the Lido and the Moulin Rouge to name a few. This dynamism and constant desire to push the boundaries of the craft, proudly allowed Maison Février to be counted among the five remaining Parisian feather houses of the time.

Internationally renowned for its rich history, Maison Février continues to hold numerous prominent collaborations in the realms of entertainment, fashion, and design.
