Carla Tolomeo
Piedmontese by birth but Roman by education, Carla Tolomeo grew up as a painter under the aegis of Giorgio de Chirico first and Guttuso, Gentilini and Attardi later.
Her first international presence was in 1971 in Lugano but it was Milan, where she had moved in the meantime, that Carla Tolomeo experienced a fervent period of artistic production that would bring her to exhibit all over Europe: Vienna, Geneva, Zurich, Athens, Prague, Zagreb and finally in London in 1997 at the prestigious Leichester’s Galleries.
It is in the same year that she begins to exhibit her famous chairs-sculptures, which represent the transformation of the simplest piece of furniture, the chair, into real magic totems with an immense chromatic richness and which will find their place in several international art galleries: London, New York, Miami. But not only that, there is no lack of collaborations with fashion maisons such as Blumarine and Missoni.
